Frequently asked questions

Plain answers about joining, meeting people, privacy, Community, and safety.

What is Sober Plus One?+

Sober Plus One is a dating and Community app for adults whose lives involve sobriety, recovery, alcohol-free living, sober-curiosity, or supporting a sober partner.

Who can join?+

Any eligible adult aged 18 or older may register from anywhere in the world. You do not need a diagnosis, recovery program, sponsor, exact sobriety date, or minimum sobriety duration.

Do I have to be in recovery?+

No. Members may describe themselves as sober, alcohol-free, in recovery, sober-curious, or supportive of a sober partner. Be honest and respectful about what you want.

What sobriety information is required?+

None. Recovery-related fields are optional. Sensitive details default to private, and you control whether an approximate duration is ever shown on your dating profile.

Can I search outside my area?+

Yes. Worldwide discovery is always available. Nearby discovery is an explicit choice and uses coarse location for matching without publishing precise coordinates.

When can someone message me?+

Private messaging is for eligible mutual matches. Blocking or unmatching ends further authorized contact through that conversation.

What is Community?+

Community is the public discussion area. Anyone can read it. Registered members can post, comment, reply, vote, use an optional Community persona, and report content. Dating and recovery-private data never appear in public Community responses.

Is Sober Plus One medical or crisis support?+

No. The app is not treatment, therapy, detox, rehabilitation, emergency, or crisis care and does not promise to prevent relapse or improve a medical condition.

Is it free?+

Core registration, profiles, discovery, matching, messaging eligibility, safety controls, and Community are free. Optional premium features and USD prices are listed on the Pricing page.

How do I delete my account?+

Open Settings, choose Deactivation, and select permanent deletion. Public deletion instructions are also available from the site footer.
